The fertile void – time and space to nourish and recharge…

Hello splendid women and magnificent
men, Sarah here… the fertile void, I’ve got a new approach to high-achieving for you
I came across it thanks to author Kate Northrup whose book ‘Do Less’ is about how
you can achieve more by doing less and I know how important to you high achievers
having a sense of productivity, being effective, a sense of progress is and I
know from my own experience and the experience of my clients that what high-achievers tend to do is push relentlessly on and no sooner have they
finished one project, than they’re on to the next one – in fact, indeed they often
overlap and there’s little pause or break in between and this can lead to
tiredness, lack of energy, lack of creativity – ultimately it can lead to
burnout and it’s not very sustainable so I’m offering the concept of a ‘fertile
void’ Kate compared it to winter and spring and the fertile void being winter
which looks like there’s nothing happening, it’s a time of rest pause and
inactivity in order for the energy of spring to come forth – with
the fertile void, the suggestion is that you plan in at the end of a project a pause, a space, a time for doing nothing, during which you can replenish
your energies, you can nourish yourself your body, your mind – you can put
in by doing nothing, so not putting out but allowing energy
and nourishment to come in and it requires courage to stop, especially in
our very driven culture and if you do have the courage to create a fertile
void, know that at some point, just like the coming of spring, your creativity
your energy, your ideas and your enthusiasm will return on their own,
probably more powerfully than had you kept pushing yourself – you know what that
feels like to keep pushing yourself and to feel like you’re almost on a
relentless conveyor belt of having to be productive and be effective, so to have a
more enjoyable and sustainable new chapter, try out introducing the fertile
void – and if you’d like some help from me to create a new chapter, where you can
make a bigger difference and enjoy life more I’d love to hear from you, thanks
for watching
