Did You Know – The #1 Nutrient Deficiency In The U.S.

Did you know…the number one nutrient deficiency
in the United States is Vitamin D. 95% of adults have a dietary intake below
the estimated average requirement. It is found in very few foods naturally. Some sources
include: wild caught fish, egg yolk, and shiitake mushrooms. Fortified sources include: milk,
yogurt, and orange juice. But the number one source for vitamin D is the Sun! When your
skin is exposed to sunshine, in particular ultraviolet UVB radiation, a chemical reaction
occurs. Still, caution is advised when spending time in the sun because of skin cancer risks.
However, researchers advise 5-10 min of unprotected sun exposure 2 to 3 times a week. If you have
any questions about vitamin D deficiencies talk to you doctor today.
